Our support for the Humanist Tomas Hirsch, Presidential Candidate for the Republic of Chile

Our support for the Humanist Tomas Hirsch, Presidential Candidate for the Republic of Chile in the elections of 11th December, 2005, for Juntos Podemos Más in Chile and its political and social development in Europe.

As the European Humanist Regional of Humanist Parties, meeting in Paris on the 22nd and 23rd of November 2005, we have decided to support with all our might the Presidential Candidate for the Republic of Chile, the Humanist Tomas Hirsch and the united front of the Chilean Left (Communists, Humanists, MIR, Christian Left, and 53 grassroots political and social forces) under the banner “Juntos Podemos Más” (together we can do more).

Juntos Podemos Más is not only a simple electoral expression, but rather a new path, a search for unity and the construction of progressive and revolutionary forces that, without losing their own identity, their own history, want to change the direction of historical events, putting the Human Being at the centre, each human being with their Rights and freedom of opportunities.

This expression of unity is starting its construction, not only in Latin America, but also in many parts of Europe (Spain, France, Germany, Holland, Norway, Italy).

To start this process, the Humanist Regional and the HPs present in different European countries are organising a mobilisation in front of the Embassies of Chile to support the Right of Chileans living overseas to vote, on the 11th of November 2005.

This date coincides with the beginning of the last month of the electoral campaign in Chile that will finish with the presidential elections of the 11th December.

As President of the European Humanist Regional and as an interpreter of the most profound sentiments of the European HPs, I send a warm hug to our brother Tomas Hirsch and all the activists that in these hours without rest, in every corner of the planet, are helping in this difficult but encouraging task.

It can happen to all of us, cultivators of the Fields of Hope, this torrent of social, political, economic and cultural changes that finally and definitively removes the grey, poisonous capes of the World’s powerful that bring so much suffering and pain to Humanity.
