Recompilation of Documents, Speeches and Pre-documents of the Commissions
Introduction
This meeting of the European Regional took place in the presence of more than 120 representatives of 14 European countries (Austria, Belgium, Check Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, , Russia, Spain, and Switzerland).
The aim of the meeting was defined as “to put into motion a process to widen the influence of the Regional, incorporating as members – besides political organisations – the largest possible number of organisations of the Humanist Movement and (humanist inspired) grassroots social organisations. These organisations would join thematic areas, in order to deepen their topic of interest and carry out campaigns and initiatives at the European level.
In this meeting the commissions and secretariats that will develop the legal, financial and communications aspects necessary for the functioning of the Regional will be put into motion. Also in this meeting, we hope to plan the first common European campaign of the Regional. All of this will be an important step towards the Second Congress of the Humanist European Regional, planned for November 2004.”
On the other side, we thought in the commissions like in a kind of “Action Fronts” from which positioning will be worked out and solutions will be proposed towards the social conflicts, and from which grassroots organisations, institutions and groups will be contacted with the aim to form wider fronts”.
In other words, the aim of this meeting was double: to open the participation in the Regional towards not only political organisations and to produce ideological positioning that reference and inspire common actions.
During the meeting we have organised in thematic and organisation commissions. These commissions can be found in the annex, together with the email addresses of the respective responsible.
The organisation team is happy to publish this report, which shows that our aspirations have been widely surpassed. We thank to all of the participants for this excellent common work.
We will continue working as a team until the second congress of the European Regional. In that moment we pretend to dissolve the team to give place to the organising structure which will be elected by the assembly of the Regional.
