Immigration in Spain
Category: Cultures and MigrationsAn inapt regulation for a blind law
The draft of the regulation for the application of the Immigration laws that is in discussion in these days in Spain, continues in the same line from the previous immigration politics when avoiding the background of the question: the poverty and the injustice that give origin to the immigration´s phenomenon.
On the other hand, some points are pointed out and center the debate on this regulation. Such points as:
The immigrant's legalization is in the employer's hands, since he should present to the authorities a contract of work of one year. Thus, only they will be able to be regularized those that are already working and also in a situation of total submission to the manager that grants them this “privilege”
Apart from other aspects that we will comment in another moment, it is also significant the possibility of “obtain papers” for the immigrant that accuses who has given him work in an illegal way.
Therefore, it is discussing today in Spain on a regulation antihumanist that, besides distracting of the key points of the problem, it will generate tension and violence in the social base when confronts to the immigrant (who becomes a possible informer) and to the manager (who becomes judge with power on the immigrant's future).
From the humanist point of view, the debate on the conflicts associated to the immigration cannot be dissociated from the causes to those such an immigration obeys. A coherent politics on immigration will begin with the commitment and the international militancy against the poverty, the injustice and the inequality and it will continue in internal politicians that make effective the real democracy with equal rights and same opportunities for all.
