In November, 2004, on the 27th and 28th, we are celebrating the 2nd Congress of the European Regional of the Humanist International, to which you are invited.

It is evident that the critical situation of the world that we are living in does not allow for postponements or ambiguities for those who aspire to a truly human world.

This is our aspiration: To reinforce Humanism as a social force, political and moral force in Europe - able to progressively influence coming events. It is also evident that we can achieve this only by uniting our forces.

Europe has to make a contribution in this historic moment. Europe can and should give a humanist response to the growing insanity and barbarity that is showing up through the repression and control of the population on a worldwide level, through the impoverishment of large human groups, the discrimination against entire sectors of a world population and the violent focus that is inserting itself everywhere to confront the violence. Europe as a region should dedicate its enormous cultural, economic and human resources towards becoming a humanist source, inspired in non-violence, peace, tolerance and openness.

And this is our proposal to all the good people whose aspirations are for a better and more human world: LETS MEET IN BUDAPEST. There we will meet with representatives from politi-cal parties and grassroot organizations with whom we coincide with in ideas and aspirations found in the Humanist Statement
